Many of you may have seen or heard about ultrasonic essential oil diffusers. However, how they actually work can be confusing for some. During our time at fairs and festivals, we would get many customers complimenting on the visual appearance of our diffusers, and were mostly associating them with dispersing wonderful aromas in their rooms. Apart from that, many were confused - and some unaware - of what a diffuser actually was and how it worked. Common questions included:
“How does this work?”
“Is it hot steam?”
“Where does the heat come from?”
So, how does an ultrasonic diffuser work and how does it benefit me?
Let’s start off with essential oils.
Essential oils are the highly concentrated oils found in natural plants. They don't only smell good, but also have healing properties which benefit our minds and bodies. In fact, essential oils have been used throughout history for their therapeutic and medicinal properties. Aromatherapy is essentially a modern version of this art.
Inhalation is often the most effective way to experience the benefits of essential oils. An ultrasonic diffuser makes this easier by dispersing the selected essential oils into the air. Ultrasonic essential oil diffusers are typically filled with water and drops of essential oils, and work by breaking down the essential oils into micro-molecules through ultrasonic vibration. This allows it to then be dispersed into the air as negative ions. These negative ions are exactly what we want as they attach to harmful positively charged particles in the air; this helps to purify the air in your home and environment.
Does an ultrasonic diffuser use any heat?
Our ultrasonic essential oil diffusers work without the use of heat. There is no heat involved, just cold and sound-free mist. This not only helps to protect and preserve the oil, but it also means that it is safe for our users.
Ultrasonic diffusers as Humidifiers
As ultrasonic diffusers run on water, it can also function as a humidifier. This is another advantage of having a diffuser in your home, especially during the colder, winter months when the air is very dry. By increasing the moisture levels and increasing humidity during the frosty months, the transmission of diseases and airborne viruses will likely decrease. Combining a few essential oils in your ultrasonic diffuser can also aid in enhancing the immune system, and potentially avoiding the colds!
Which diffuser would suit me?
All of our essential oil diffusers are equipped with the best atomization technology and are run via an AC adapter, not USB; hence eliminating the concerns of under-powered weak mists, or the inconvenience of a USB supply. The diffusers with a bigger capacity are able store more water, and will subsequently run for longer periods. Due to the size of our diffusers, running time is usually not an issue, as they all run for at least 4 hours. All of our models have LED lights and a built-in automatic shut-off safety feature which means that the diffusers will automatically turn off when there is no water left - this is for your safety and ease of mind when using it. So with that being said, it simply depends on the size and design of the diffuser you like, and of course, the design of your room :)
