Say “Good-Bye” to your hair and scalp troubles using your DIY hair oil

Do you experience any issues with your hair or scalp, such as hair damage, hair loss, graying, dandruff, or an unpleasant odor from your scalp? Are you giving your hair and scalp the same level of care as you do for your face?

In the midst of our busy lives and numerous responsibilities, it's common to overlook or underestimate the importance of regular hair and scalp care. Nevertheless, consistent care can alleviate hair problems and enhance their overall health and vitality.

You can easily take care of your hair and scalp by making your own hair oil. To make the oil, just add 3 drops of an essential oil of your choice to the 30ml carrier oil of your choice (Jojoba Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil and Sweet Almond Oil are recommended) and mix it well. *Using essential oils made from citrus fruits (Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon), Peppermint or Lemongrass can cause skin irritation. If you would like to use these oils, please add only 1 drop per 30ml of carrier oil.

Depending on the essential oils you use, you can expect a variety of benefits. Here are the essential oils we recommend as per the benefits you would like to get.

For damaged hair: Ylang Ylang, Geranium
For stopping hair loss and thin hair: Rosemary
For stopping dandruff and itchy scalp: Tea Tree, Geranium
For greasy scalp: Mandarin, Clary Sage, Geranium

How to use your hair oil

For using as a leave-in-conditioner after washing your hair:

Step 1. Dry your hair with a towel

Step 2. Warm some hair oil with your hands and apply it to your hair

Step 3. Dry your hair with a hair dryer

If you use too much oil, your hair becomes greasy. Please use only a little at the beginning and add more only if necessary.

For smooth and shiny hair after styling:

After styling your hair, apply a little bit of your hair oil to the dry hair (from tips to mid-lengths). This is also useful for protecting your hair from sun damage.

Hair mask for damaged hair:

Step 1. Apply hair oil to your dry hair until it becomes moisturised with the oil

Step 2. Steam towel your hair for 10 minutes (Soak a towel in water and wring it out so that it is not dripping. Place the towel in the microwave for 2 minutes or until it is very warm. Then cover your hair with the warm towel.)

Step 3. Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water and wash with a shampoo

*Repeat this process once a week to have your hair moisturised and more manageable

For massaging your scalp:

Taking care of your scalp offers numerous advantages. It plays a key role in preventing hair loss and greying by promoting better blood circulation in the scalp. Additionally, it effectively clears away debris trapped in the pores, which regular shampooing may not completely remove. Consequently, your hair and scalp become less prone to excess oiliness and unpleasant odours.

Step 1. Before having a shampoo, dab your fingertips in the oil and apply it to your scalp (You will need about 15ml of your hair oil.)

Step 2. Gently massage your scalp in small circular motions for 3 to 5 minutes

Step 3. Leave it for about 5 minutes, rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water and wash with a shampoo

*As you are not adding any preservatives in the hair oil, please use it up within a month. Store it in a cool place without direct sunlight. Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs.

*Using essential oils may cause skin sensitivity. Always do a patch test prior to using. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medications or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician first. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas. If you use essential oils made from citrus fruits, avoid sunlight or UV rays for up to 24 hours after applying the product.
